Welcome! Bienvenue! My name is Sonya and I’m originally from Franklin, Tennessee in the southern region of the U.S. I grew up in a small town near Nashville with some of the best music, southern food, and sweet tea a girl could ask for. I found my love for travel at the age of 14, when I took my first plane ride to Puerto Rico on a mission trip. Since then my travels have taken me all across 25 of the United States from the east coast to the west coast, onward to the Dominican Republic in 2007, the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe in 2014, then to Europe in 2015 – 2016, spanning France, Switzerland, and Iceland. Then most recently I lived in the Pacific Northwest and Canada’s west coast for 6-7 months in 2016. Next I’ll be heading to California in the Fall 2017.
I’ve discovered over the years that my love for travel and adventure has made me a nomad, one who wanders and seeks to explore the world. A free spirit with a wild heart, seeking adventure and exploring places uncharted. I have always loved the outdoors and adventures of all kinds since an early age, curious about what existed in distant places and worlds I had never known. My idea is that you can have adventures wherever you are in the world and wherever your life takes you — even where you live, even on short trips and getaways, basically in all places there can be adventure.
Everything changed for me in October 2015 in the realm of travel and pursuing my passions and goals. At that time, I sold everything and moved to France for 3 months and also spent time in Switzerland and then Iceland, which ultimately led me to Canada’s West Coast in British Columbia. I started my travel blog while in Paris and I knew I wanted to record the experiences over the next year and beyond. These were my favorite adventures so far during this past year, from October 2015-2016. This year was filled with the most adventurous and life-changing moments and ultimately led me to finally understand and experience “la joie de vivre.”
This is a place where I capture my travels and the stories on each journey. And it’s also a place that I hope you enjoy and that inspires you to follow your own dreams and travels and seek adventure always. Whether you’re single, married, a parent, or a grandparent — I hope you can find ways to add adventure to your life and to follow your dreams beyond where you thought you could and in whatever way that unfolds in your life. We all have dreams and adventures to be lived.
Life is an adventurous, imperfectly perfect, beautiful journey. Let’s make every moment count.
Cheers! – Sonya
